What article markup does
Article structured data describes the essential facts about a written piece: its headline, author, publisher and when it was published. Google uses this information to present the article correctly in news and search features.
Four article types are available here. Each one suits a different kind of content, from news stories to technical guides.
Choosing the right article type
- Article for a standard editorial piece.
- NewsArticle for time-sensitive news and current events.
- BlogPosting for casual blog content.
- TechArticle for technical documentation and tutorials.
How to generate the markup
- Pick the article type that matches your content.
- Add the headline, description and image URL.
- Enter the author and publisher names.
- Add the publisher logo URL.
- Set the published and modified dates.
- Copy the JSON-LD and place it in your page head.
Details that matter to Google
A real publisher name and a working logo URL matter for news eligibility. Images should be at least 1200 pixels wide to be considered for a featured image, and the dates should match the visible dates on the page.
